Bow Belles

Daisy and the Bow Belles!

The Bow Belle society was founded in 1995 to promote and assist a large transvestite need for 'tweenager' fashions and events.

There is a large catalogue of TV books on the subject, but very little reality. The sorority of Bow Belles was based on Yvonne Sinclair's famous stories of 'Alice and Anna'. They struck a chord within me. Those delightful tales also sparked another segment of my abiding interest in historic female dress, which I have studied and perused for many years. I decided to make my Bow Belle dreams come true to the extent that I won a couple of TV fashion contests.!

Since that time we can take some credit for encouraging Bow Belle (BB) type clothes (also known as Little Girl (LG) clothes) being on offer at most (so called) TV shops and from many mail order and made-to-measure TV suppliers. Should you require a list please forward a SAE... If you KNOW of any other suppliers please let me know and I will add to the list.

The Bow Belle Sorority therefore breaks new TV ground in that it is intended for those TV's and/or RGs (Real Girls) who appreciate and love to wear young female garments from any era to present day pretty clothes including bridesmaids. We wear from choice (as an example) Victorian style girls party clothes or 50's party wear. The two most sought after styles of Bow Belles clothes. Satin and Taffeta are everywhere.! Frilly lacy and/or satin as worn in the past to parties by girls from 6 or 7 through their early teens (but seldom today) is the Bow Belles dream.

We are NOTHING to do with adult babies which is totally different!

I have discovered that many of us have wider interests in the same field; for example, some who like to wear schoolgirl clothes also like to wear Bow Belle dresses (in most cases). As I follow the dictum that we in the TV world should not dictate the preferences of others but encourage diversity, This type of thing does get into our magazine stories. People in glass houses etc.!

Although it remains very difficult to get many Bow Belles out of their dream world into reality, increasingly Bow Belles are appearing at more TV events although the participants do often claim they are in fancy dress 'maid' outfits as some clubs do not like the Bow Belle syndrome but financial considerations (ie the clubs need all the guests they can, especially in the summer.) are increasingly overcoming this prejudice as the organisers see we are not in any way provocative. These unofficial rules barring BB's are very dubious (the exclusions do not appear in any TV club constitutions that I can find.!

Currently we offer an information service as to what is available to a would be Bow Belle.
